The FIFA World Cup, often simply called the World Cup, is an international association football competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, the sport's global governing body.

» FIFA World Cup was founded in 1930, when it was created by a Frenchman by the name Jules Rimet. The cup he got designed depicted Nike of Samothrace (Winged Victory). The cup was later renamed as Jules Rimet Cup in 1950, after its founder.
» The Cup in its present form was created in 1970, known as FIFA World Cup Trophy.
» The design of the trophy made by Silvio Gazzaniga was chosen from among 53 presented models.
» Brazil has won the FIFA World Cup the maximum number of times (five), and is the only team to have played in all the tournaments.
» The FIFA World Cup is also the World’s most widely viewed sporting event.
