Value of good manners

Value of good manners

Good manners cover the whole range of our conduct in relation to home, school, society and the country. The value of good manners refers to all good manners that are needed to make our life successful and joyous. They are mutual source of joy to us as well as to others. When we act nobly towards others it gives us immense joy and inner peace. Ill mannered persons are always a source of nuisance to the society. Manners of a person are reflected in small acts that give pleasure and satisfaction to others. They make us amiable and disciplined member of a society. The whole range of our conduct comprises customary behaviour, moral character, mode of life and our attitude towards all and one. To cultivate good manners one must remember that one's mind must be upright and honestly diverted to moral code of conduct. At home we have our kith and kin. We must be considerate, compassionate and regardful to their needs. In school we have teachers for whom we should have proper respect. In society we have friends and neighbors whom we should love and care for. Good manners do not imply artificial manners in society. Respect, compassion, honesty in our profession and compliance with the rules are the good manners which one must learn to follow. Only by saying 'thank you, please, kindly', we are not observing good manners. Good manners are reflected in our concern for others. Hospitality and help to the needy are part of good manners. Compassion to animals is also an example of good manners. Therefore, good manners cover a very vast range of our conduct. Respect for women on road and help for the old and infirm are essential part of good manners. Last but not least, we should choose our speech very wisely so as not to hurt others. We should never be guilty of the use of humiliating and hurting speech.
