Hazards of living in a metropolitan city

Hazards of living in a metropolitan city

We have often heard the saying that God made the country and man made the town. Urban life is quite complicated whereas rural living is simple. Modern civilization has further complicated the problems in modern cities. This results in avoidable stress and strain. The hazards of living in a modern city are countless despite the fact that all the comforts are available in a city life. Living space in cities is getting reduced day by day. The migration of villagers to the cities has further complicated the living in the cities. They run into millions and the modern cities have just turned into big slums. Not a green patch has been spared by the dwellers in the city. City life has made it almost obligatory on the part of both husbands and wives to work. Rearing a child is a real problem. There are opportunities both for men and women to find jobs. But the problem lies in parenting a child. Parenting is often confused with providing material comforts. In the event of both husband and wife working, a child develops an emotional insecurity. It results in risk of despair and emotional collapse. Anonymous living is the chief feature of a modern city. We are not concerned about the next door neighbor. Such a kind of living gives rise to crime and violence. In small places and villages the force of traditions & social customs prevent the dwellers from committing a crime. Therefore, city life gives rise to glamour and glitter of the materialistic age and debases moral values.
