The Delhi police have registered a case of murder against Mohit Kumar,
the proprietor of a jewellery shop. Mohit and his family members have been accused of poisoning their daughter-in-law. The police registered the case following a statement by the victim who was admitted to a local nursing home. Shalini made a statement before the SDM last night at the nursing home where she was being treated.
The SHO of Karol Bagh Police station said that the accused had not been arrested so far because they had fled their homes. However, frantic search is on to nab them.
According to Shalini’s statement, her in-laws were demanding dowry and always threatened her with dire consequences. They often asked her to get more money from her parents for expanding the business and opening a new show room in South Delhi. Shalini’s father is a well known property dealer. Shalini was married with Mohit last December. Her parents gave expensive presents to her in-laws.
When contacted Shalini's father Sailesh Mohan alleged that the in-laws of Shalini forced his daughter to consume poison and then they left home. If a neighbourer had not accidently dropped in at that time, Shalini would have died within half an hour. The neighbourer, Ram Singh rushed her to the nursing home. The doctors diagnosed it as a case of poisoning and informed the police. The police arrived and the statement of Shalini was recorded before die SDM when she had partially recovered her senses. Later on her position got out of control and she succumbed to the effect of poisoning.
